Fitting Checklist:

Follow these tips to get the best fit for your dress! Here’s what to bring:

Attire and Accessories:

  1. Your Dress: This should be obvious, but make sure you have the dress along.
  2. Undergarments/Shapewear: Bring any undergarments or shapewear you plan to wear with your dress, including a bra if needed. I recommend getting seamless, nude-colored undergarments. I have sew-in bra cups available if you want those added to your dress.
  3. Embellishments: If there is anything you want added to your dress (such as a belt, straps, or extra lace), bring it along.
  4. Shoes: Bring the shoes you intend to wear with your dress to ensure the dress hem is accurate.
  5. Jewelry: You are more than welcome to try on any and all accessories in front of the mirror during your fitting!
  6. Photos or Inspiration: Bring any photos or inspiration images to help convey your vision to the seamstress if you want to change the design of your dress.

Additional Tips:

  1. Bring a Friend or Family Member: Having a trusted companion can provide feedback and support during the fitting.
  2. Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask questions or seek clarification about any aspect of the fitting process.
  3. Be Open-Minded: Sometimes alterations may differ from your expectations but trust the expertise of the seamstress and be honest about how you feel things are going.
  4. Take Pictures: You are more than welcome to take pictures during the fitting process.
  5. Have Fun! My clients start out as acquaintances and leave as friends. Embrace each moment along the way and enjoy the process!

Thanks for trusting me with your alterations. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon!

First Fitting Checklist for Brides:

You’ve got the dress and you’ve been planning for months, and it’s finally time for your first fitting. Since this is usually a brand-new experience for brides, it’s normal to feel a little bewildered about what to expect, especially if you’ve never had anything tailored before. Not to worry! I’ve put together a little checklist to calm those fitting fears. Here is everything you need for your first bridal fitting:

Attire and Accessories:

  1. Wedding Dress: This should be obvious, but make sure you have the dress (or dresses) along that you intend to wear on your wedding day.
  2. Slip or Crinoline: If you have a slip or crinoline to add fullness to the skirt, bring it with you to each fitting.
  3. Undergarments/Shapewear: Bring any undergarments or shapewear you plan to wear with your wedding dress, including a bra if needed. I recommend getting seamless, nude-colored undergarments.
  4. Embellishments: If there is anything you want added to your dress (such as a belt, straps, or extra lace), bring it along to your first fitting.
  5. Shoes: Wear or bring the shoes you intend to wear on your wedding day to ensure the dress hem is accurate.
  6. Veil or Hairpiece: This is optional, but it’s nice to try the veil on to make sure it coordinates with your dress. We can also adjust the length if needed.
  7. Jewelry: You are more than welcome to try on any and all accessories in front of the mirror during your fitting!

Miscellaneous:

  1. Photos or Inspiration: Bring any photos or inspiration images you’ve collected to help convey your vision to the seamstress.
  2. Timeline: Discuss your wedding timeline with the seamstress to ensure alterations are completed in time for your wedding day.

The days leading up to your wedding are a special time that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
  5. Have Fun! My clients start out as acquaintances and leave as dear friends. I love the bond that develops between bride and seamstress as wonderful memories are made. Embrace each moment along the way and enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime process!

Remember, the first fitting sets the foundation for how your wedding dress will look and feel on your special day, so it’s crucial to be prepared and communicate your vision for your dress during the process. With this checklist, an open mind and a positive attitude, you are sure to be prepared for your first bridal fitting!
