When should I start alterations?
- Newly engaged brides should reserve their spot on my alterations calendar right away as bridal spots fill up quickly. I recommend booking your seamstress when you order your dress. Don’t wait until your dress comes in to book your seamstress!
- Brides should have their initial fitting approximately 10-12 weeks before the wedding date.
- Bridal fittings are booked by invitation only with a special link after you’ve confirmed your wedding date with me. Click this button to get started:
- Bridesmaids, mothers, prom and other formalwear should start about 6-8 weeks before the event date. Click here to book a fitting:
Oh no! The wedding is next month! Am I too late?
- Not necessarily! Depending on the time of year and my workload, I may be able to squeeze you in. However, you will most likely have to pay a rush fee. Contact me ASAP to see if I can get you in.
How many fittings will I need?
- Brides typically need 3 appointments: the initial fitting/drop-off, the fit-check, and a pick-up day.
- More complex alterations may need additional fitting appointments.
- Bridesmaids, mothers and prom usually only need 2 appointments: the initial drop-off and a pick-up day, unless there is a lot of work needed.
How much will my alterations cost?
- Brides will receive an estimate at the initial bridal consultation and fitting.
- A typical bridal ticket averages around $600, depending on the alterations needed and the embellishments on the dress. Lace, heavy beading, and multiple linings tend to increase the cost of alterations.
- Brides also get to choose one of my fitting packages in addition to the alterations, which allows you to bundle some of my bridal services.
- Click here for more information about bridal alterations and fitting packages.
- A typical bridesmaid or mother’s dress averages around $100. Again, it depends on how many layers and the complexity of the work required.
- Prom dresses, by nature, have many more layers and embellishments and usually average around $125.

What should I bring to my fitting?
- Your dress
- The actual shoes that you will be wearing
- The actual undergarments and/or shapewear you will be wearing
- I have sew-in bra cups available for purchase if desired
- Your slip if you are wearing one
- Anything you want added to your dress (such as a belt or straps)
- Your veil and/or hairpiece (optional)
- Your jewelry (optional)
Who should I bring along?
- I recommend bringing one other person whose opinion you value (your mom or close friend).
- Avoid bringing anyone that will distract you, like large groups and small children. I have lots of sharp objects in the fitting area including stray pins.
- Brides: for your final fitting I recommend bringing your mom, personal attendant, or a bridesmaid along so they can learn your bustle. You’ll have enough on your mind on your wedding day, so leave the bustling to someone else!
When do I take my dress home? Do you offer steaming?
- You may take your dress home after your final fitting, or brides may choose to leave it at my house to be steamed.
- Once the dress is steamed, it should not be stored long-term inside the garment bag to prevent the train from wrinkling.
- Brides may want to set up a dress pickup closer to the wedding date. It works great to delegate this task to an aunt, bridesmaid, or friend. They can bring your freshly steamed dress right to the church or wherever you plan to change into your gown.
- Don’t forget to have your veil steamed also!
What do you accept for payment?
- I take cash, check, credit/debit card, and Venmo
Do you live in the country? Google maps is taking me down a gravel road!
- Yes! I do live in the country on a farm and you will have to take about 2 miles of gravel to get to my house. Please be mindful of road conditions and weather. But I promise it’s worth the drive. When you get here you may even be greeted by my free-range chickens and rooster, Marcus (don’t worry, he’s friendly).
