Hi! I’m Bethany Rylaarsdam, professional seamstress, wife of Daryl, and mom of three kids, Caden (16), Tyson (12), and Macy (8). My husband and I enjoy farming our little corner of southwest Minnesota. In addition to sewing, I love playing with yarn (knitting/crocheting/weaving), wild-foraging, raising free-range chickens, flower gardening, camping and reading.

Sewing Experience
I have over 30 years of sewing experience and 20+ years of experience with alterations. My passion for sewing began at a very young age in 4-H, where I enjoyed sewing a variety of garments and even made my own prom dresses! I bought my first sewing machine at the age of 12, a little Husqvarna Viking 320.
During my college years, I was trained in bridal alterations at Edith’s Bridal in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. I immediately fell in love with the bridal industry: the satin, the lace, the sparkle, the accessories–all the pretty things! I felt so lucky to be surrounded by all of those gorgeous designer dresses!
Soon my friends and family started asking if I could alter their dresses. Word-of-mouth spread and I began picking up more and more sewing work while trying to juggle a job, a young family, and doing alterations on the side.
When my husband and I bought our farm, I felt the pull to stay home with my kids, so in 2015 I decided it was time to officially open my home-based alterations studio and do alterations full-time. It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made! I love working from home and being present for my family, while helping so many wonderful clients with their beautiful garments.
I think my favorite thing about my job is getting to know my clients and seeing how each dress matches their personality. Every client is uniquely beautiful in her own way, and it is so rewarding to enhance her beauty with the right alterations and see that smile when everything comes together perfectly.
